Functional masterbatch refers to various plastic additives or chemical fiber concentrates, which are generally white or semi transparent in color. Adding additives directly in the form of masterbatch is not easy to disperse. Common functional masterbatch includes antibacterial masterbatch, flame-retardant masterbatch, anti-static masterbatch, filling masterbatch, cooling masterbatch, formaldehyde resistant masterbatch, UV resistant masterbatch, far-infrared masterbatch, hydrophilic masterbatch, soft masterbatch, negative ion masterbatch, etc. Below is a brief introduction to several common functional masterbatch.
01. Antibacterial masterbatch
Uniformly disperse various antibacterial agents in the matrix resin to form a concentrate, namely antibacterial masterbatch. After mixing a certain amount of antibacterial masterbatch and corresponding resin particles, plastic parts, products, and antibacterial fibers with antibacterial effects (sterilization and antibacterial effects) can be produced according to the processing and molding methods of plastics and fibers.
02. Flame retardant masterbatch
Products with added flame retardant masterbatch can automatically block the spread of flames when exposed to fire, and the burnt products will extinguish and no longer burn, playing a role in flame retardancy.
In general, flame retardant masterbatch undergoes special treatment to improve its compatibility with plastic resins, making it less prone to delamination, frosting, patterns, and other issues even when added in large amounts to the resin.
By adding flame-retardant masterbatch, general plastics can meet or approach the application requirements of engineering plastics, increasing product added value and reducing raw material costs.
